Venue & Travel

Located in the heart of the University of Maryland campus in College Park, Maryland, the venue for both days of the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Summit and the third day of Post-Summit Workshops is the historic Adele H. Stamp Student Union Hall.  There are many great places to see while in College Park and the greater Washington DC metro area, plus a large number of options for travel to the Summit.  All sessions will be held on the second floor except the Day 1 Poster Session which is in the Grand Ballroom on the first floor.  Please note that the "first floor" in the Stamp building is not the same as the "ground floor."  Click to enlargen:

Who Was Adele H. Stamp?

Adele H. Stamp served as the University of Maryland's first Dean of Women from 1922 to 1960.  A champion of diversity, she was a community leader key to many organizations like the first Women's Student Government Assocation of Maryland, the Senior Honor Society, the College Park Branch of the American Association of Unversity Women, and a local chapter of the American Red Cross.  The student union named in her honor is a vital resource in the heart of the University of Maryland campus, with a mission to continue her work and provide a safe and inviting campus center to all.
