NHERI Special Session at the 13NCEE in Portland, Oregon
West Lafayette, IN, March 17, 2026 — A diverse and technically strong contingent of earthquake and geotechnical engineers from the NHERI network will be on hand at the 13th National Conference on Earthquake Engineering,13NCEE, taking place in Portland, July 13-17.
Julio Ramirez, principal investigator for the NHERI Network Coordination Office, will moderate the special session: “Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure Focused on Reducing the Damage from Natural Hazards to Civil Infrastructure.” The 90-minute session includes short remarks from the panelists and significant Q/A opportunity for the attendees.
Session panelists include:
- Jim Ricles and Claudia Reis representing the NHERI Lehigh facility,
- JoAnn Browning representing the Network Coordination Office,
- Ellen Rathje representing the NHERI cyberinfrastructure platform DesignSafe-CI,
- Matt DeJong representing the NHERI SimCenter, and
- Bill Holmes, representing the NHERI Technology Transfer Committee.
