NHERI Network at the International Conference in Coastal Engineering 2026 in Galveston, Texas

West Lafayette, IN, March 17, 2026 — Coastal researchers and engineers in the NHERI network will be on hand at the International Conference in Coastal Engineering, ICCE 2026, in Galveston, Texas, May 17-22.

If you’re attending, be sure to stop by the NHERI booth, hosted by the team at Oregon State University facility. It’s an opportunity to meet and chat with NHERI researchers from the NHERI OSU wave laboratory, the NHERI RAPID equipment facility, the University of Florida wind tunnel facility, and the Florida International University Wall of Wind facility.

Also on hand will be reps from the NHERI Network Coordination Office, the Technology Transfer Committee, and NHERI extreme events groups, including the Nearshore Extreme Event Reconnaissance (NEER).

NHERI also is a contributing partner for the ICCE technical workshop, "International Workshop on Coastal Storm Reconnaissance: How to Optimize Field Data Collection."

This session brings together an international and cross-disciplinary group of field team members, modelers, and agency stakeholders to share experiences from recent post-storm reconnaissance efforts. The session aims to identify operational challenges, evaluate coordination and instrumentation strategies, and co-develop recommendations for improving future rapid response campaigns.

Although seats for this workshop have been filled, the conveners will publish a summary on resulting recommendations.

Workshop conveners include  Alexandra Schueller, University of Applied Sciences Koblenz & Guest Investigator, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI); Britt Raubenheimer, Senior Scientist, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI); Nina Stark, University of Florida; and Ian Turner, University of New South Wales, Sydney.
