Announcing SimCenter's Research Spotlights: Showcasing User Outcomes

Published on September 10, 2025

The NHERI SimCenter team is excited to announce the launch of SimCenter Research Spotlights, a new initiative designed to showcase significant projects from the natural hazards research community that have leveraged SimCenter tools for impactful research.

These spotlights highlight how our open-source software is being utilized to tackle real-world challenges—enhancing hazard resilience, improving infrastructure performance, and fostering sustainable, community-focused solutions.

If you have employed SimCenter tools in your research and would like to share your outcomes, we invite you to contact us at nheri-simcenter@berkeley.edu for consideration.

The latest spotlight (pictured), "Probabilistic Calibration and Prediction of Liquefaction" (Arduino et al.) features research that enhances hazard communication with clear probabilistic predictions of liquefaction risk. The probabilistic treatment of soil parameters and liquefaction-induced deformations provides evidence that can guide updates to seismic design codes and standards for geotechnical systems. Spotlights recently highlighted in LinkedIn include "Predictive Model for Household Displacement Duration After Disasters" (Paul et al.) and "Virtual Testbeds for Community Resilience Analysis" (Enderami et al.).
